Discussion Topic: Module 05: Discussion 1Module 05: Discussion 1

Purpose

To utilize medical terminology in a practical way and define medical terms.

Directions

Note: You will not be able to see other posts until you submit your own.

1. Create a short case study using 5 different medical terms or abbreviations from chapters 1 – 5. Underline the medical terms.
Example: A patient was seen by the doctor with a lesion located on in the RUQ of his abdomen and pustules distal to the lesion.

2. Respond to one other classmate by copying the case in reply and defining the underlined medical terms.
Note: Only one response per initial post. If you see another classmate has already responded, move to the next posting.

Grading

The three discussion boards combined are worth 10% of your grade. This assignment is worth 10 points.

Original Post – 1 point for each medical term (max. 5) spelled and used in correct context.
Response – 1 point for each term correctly defined (max. 5).

Module 10: Discussion 2

Purpose

To utilize medical terminology in a practical way and define medical terms.

1. Create a short case study using 5 different medical terms or abbreviations from chapters 7 – 12. Underline the medical terms.
Example: A patient came to see her ophthalmologist with redness in the sclera. She complained of light sensitivity and blurred vision. The doctor used ophthalmoscope. The doctor examined the optic nerve and the retina.

1. Create a short paragraph or scenario using 5 different medical terms from chapters 13-15 (see example below). Underline the medical terms.

Example:

A doctor was seeing patients at a local clinic. Her first patient came in wheezing, The doctor examined the patient’s pulmonary status and on exam noted the presence of rales. The next patient came in complaining he was extremely tired and concerned he had mononucleosis. On exam, the doctor noted enlarged cervical lymph nodes.
