Assignment: Evidence-Based Project, Part 4: Critical Appraisal of ResearchRealtors rely on detailed property appraisals?conducted using appraisal tools?to assign market values to houses and other properties. These values are then presented to buyers and sellers to set prices and initiate offers.Research appraisal is not that different. The critical appraisal process utilizes formal appraisal tools to assess the results of research to determine value to the context at hand. Evidence-based practitioners often present these findings to make the case for specific courses of action. In this Assignment, you will use an appraisal tool to conduct a critical appraisal of published research. You will then present the results of your efforts. To Prepare: Reflect on the four peer-reviewed articles you selected in Module 2 and the four systematic reviews (or other filtered high- level evidence) you selected in Module 3. Reflect on the four peer-reviewed articles you selected in Module 2 and analyzed in Module 3. Review and download the Critical Appraisal Tool Worksheet Template provided in the Resources. The Assignment (Evidence-Based Project)Part 4A: Critical Appraisal of ResearchConduct a critical appraisal of the four peer-reviewed articles you selected by completing the Evaluation Table within the Critical Appraisal Tool Worksheet Template. Choose a total of four peer- reviewed articles that you selected related to your clinical topic of interest in Module 2 and Module 3.Note: You can choose any combination of articles from Modules 2 and 3 for your Critical Appraisal. For example, you may choose two unfiltered research articles from Module 2 and two filtered research articles (systematic reviews) from Module 3 or one article from Module 2 and three articles from Module 3. You can choose any combination of articles from the prior Module Assignments as long as both modules and types of studies are represented.Part 4B: Critical Appraisal of ResearchBased on your appraisal, in a 1-2-page critical appraisal, suggest a best practice that emerges from the research you reviewed. Briefly explain the best practice, justifying your proposal with APA citations of the research.By Day 7 of Week 7Submit Part 4A and 4B of your Evidence-Based Project.

Here is the link https://academicguides.waldenu.edu/library/conceptualframework Researchers create theoretical and conceptual frameworks that include a philosophical and methodological model to help design their work. A formal theory provides context for the outcome of the events conducted in the research. The data collection and analysis are also based on the theoretical and conceptual framework. As stated by Grant and Osanloo (2014), ?Without a theoretical framework, the structure and vision for a study is unclear, much like a house that cannot be constructed without a blueprint. By contrast, a research plan that contains a theoretical framework allows the dissertation study to be strong and structured with an organized flow from one chapter to the next.? Theoretical and conceptual frameworks provide evidence of academic standards and procedure. They also offer an explanation of why the study is pertinent and how the researcher expects to fill the gap in the literature. Literature does not always clearly delineate between a theoretical or conceptual framework. With that being said, there are slight differences between the two. Why you chose this article and its relation to the clinical issue of interest (include a brief explanation of the ethics of research related to your clinical issue of interest) As a nurse, it is always important to know what to do to prevent your patients from so much pain. Choosing this article will improve my understanding and knowledge of how I can help adults who are critically ill managing the pain they are experiencing. Managing pain usually aims at knowing the importance of pain in medicine, the function of managing pain in the medical care of patients, the responsibilities of healthcare experts in managing pain in patients, and the other duties that require balancing against the responsibility of providing enough analgesia. I have had quite a lot of bad experience in the prevention of nosocomial infections. This time around, I want to get it right and know how to prevent my patients and even my colleagues from having hospital infections. This is why I chose this article to learn, be self-efficient, and change my attitude toward preventing nosocomial infections. There is inadequate indication to advocate one central venous catheter or insertion site. I believe this article will provide the answer on how to care for cancer patients who are catheterized by avoiding possible complications. I understand how rest is important for the healthcare personnel in providing quality healthcare services to patients. Most health facilities makes healthcare personnel to work 24 hours without even shifts. This article will help me understand in details the importance of shift in nursing care. Brief description of the aims of the research of each peer-reviewed article The article aims at discussing how the guidelines of ?PADIS (Pain, Agitation/sedation, Delirium, Immobility, and Sleep Disruption) go afar the PAD (Pain, Agitation, and Delirium) guidelines.? Offering precise guidance associated with risk elements of pain, the evaluation and managing of pain in life-threatening illness, and how the pain experience in critical illness is entwined with that of nervousness, delirium, sleep disruption, and immobility. The article aims at determining how healthcare professionals, especially the nurses, can play a dynamic responsibility in counteracting and managing nosocomial diseases, which is common in health facilities. The study aimed at assessing the understanding, attitude, and self-effectiveness of nursing personnel in controlling nosocomial infections. The article aims at developing an evidence-based guideline on the central venous catheter care for cancer patients addressing the type of catheter, the site of insertion, placement, prophylaxis, and management of infections related to catheter use and thrombosis. The study aimed at describing the present states of the shifts of nurses and how it influences the stress, quality of sleep, and the self-professed health status. Brief description of the research methodology used Be sure to identify if the methodology used was qualitative, quantitative, or a mixed-methods approach. Be specific. The research was conducted by reviewing the literature of the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s PADIS guidelines. Also, the way they go afar the initial PAD guidelines in providing precise guidance associated with the evaluation and pain management using opioids in critical illness and the utilization of adjunctive analgesia?a qualitative method. Data were collected using a cross-sectional study method where a questionnaire was used to gather information regarding knowledge, attitude, and self-efficacy of 135 nurses. It was a qualitative method. The study utilized a systematic survey by collecting qualitative data from MEDLINE and library sources. A cross-sectional study where nurses were interviewed on their demographics, their work schedule, and a checklist for stress, sleep-quality measure, and health status were used for data collection. A brief description of the strengths of each of the research methodologies used, including the reliability and validity of how the methodology was applied in each of the peer-reviewed articles you selected. The literature used provided the precise information required in assessing pain management in critically ill adults. The sources of research used were reliable and valid since they contained most of the drugs used in pain management and how to use them. The cross-sectional study is moderately quick and easy to conduct. Data is collected once and provides multiple outcomes and exposure. The resources provide precise ways of taking care of cancer patients and the use of central venous catheters. Data on all variables was only collected once, quick, and easy to conduct. All factors being investigated can be measured, and numerous outcomes and exposures can be identified. General Notes/Comments The knowledge of pain management in critically ill adults is essential, and this article provides this information in a precise and understandable way that makes it easy to understand. Many nurses are not knowledgeable about nosocomial infections. It is crucial to train nurses on how to prevent nosocomial infections by increasing their knowledge and attitude. Only well-trained healthcare providers should place central venous catheters. Hospital managers need to warrant more healthy shifts in working schedules to improve the nurses’ clinical performance and health status for the quality of patient care. ?2018 Laureate Education Inc. 4

Running Head: SEARCHING DATABASES 0 Searching Databases Name Institution Transformation of Clinical Inquiry into a Searchable Question in PICO (T) P- 73-year-old female in good health with normal cholesterol levels and no chronic diseases I – Lipitor C- Atorvastatin O- Slow the rate of memory loss. Searchable Question In aging females in good health with normal cholesterol levels and no chronic disease, will using atorvastatin help slow down memory loss? Strategies I might use to increase the Rigor and effectiveness of a Database Search on my PICO (T) Question To increase the precision and effectiveness of a database search for my PICO (T) question, I will use six specific strategies. They are, conceptualize my search, use suitable vocabulary, merge terms and ideas using the Boolean device, review my search strategy, explore more than one database, and acquire database search rules and idiosyncrasy (Stillwell et al., 2010a). By conceptualizing my search, I will first consider my patient, a 73-year-old female, in good health as an adult. Then the type of studies I would prefer to answer my PICO (T) question; in this case, I will prefer systematic review since I will use literature present in the databases (Stillwell et al., 2010a). I will then consider the range of years that I want to get data from, the language from which I want the literature that is English, and finally, the settings in which I want the data, for instance, I would like my PICO (T) to be in the hospital setting. Since each database has its distinctive terminology based on the topic subject of the database, therefore, I will use the right terminologies such as atorvastatin to determine the database I will use for my search (Melnyx et al., 2009). The common vocabulary that will determine that I will use a medical database is MeSH, which both PubMed and Medline use. After identifying the right vocabularies for my database search, I will then merge terms and ideas by utilizing the Boolean operators (Davies, 2011). For instance, I will use words like and, or, and not combine the keywords to enhance the probability of finding the appropriate data. I will then review my search strategy by looking at the research question once again, identify the key ideas, review my search terms, review the search fields I will use, and phrase search using Boolean operators (Stillwell et al., 2010b). The next strategy that I will follow to enhance practical and rigorous searches will be to explore more than one database with literature regarding medical research (Melynx, 2011). Using more than one medical database will give me a broader range of peer-reviewed literature that I can choose from the most relevant article addressing my question. The final strategy that I will use is to acquire the rules and idiosyncrasy that are necessary for the medical database (Stillwell et al., 2010a). This will help me know how to manage the information I will get from the database to become useful for my search activities. Knowing how to manage the database will make the information I add to it to be more accessible and integrated. It will allow me to become a strategic user of the data that I already have.
