Assignment: Character Analysis and Diagnosis

As part of the Final Project, we continue the examination of the DSM-5 through the assessment and diagnoses of a fictional character. The Final Project must demonstrate both breadth and depth of knowledge and critical thinking appropriate to graduate-level scholarship.

For this assignment use the character Ian Gallagher from the American television series Shameless. Use your knowledge about the show, Ian, and the DSM-5 to formulate a proper character analysis and mental health diagnosis based on the DSM-5. When formulating your diagnosis be sure to evaluate the character’s traits, their role in the story, and the conflicts they experience.

The assignment must be 10 pages – Not including title, abstract, and references pages.

APA Format.

Minimum of 15 references. 10 of them must be peer-reviewed.

You may NOT use encyclopedia or dictionaries as resources for your project. You may use the DSM-5. You may use newspaper and/or magazine articles as they apply.
