below. For this assignment, you will submit 7 pages of notes (bullet
points are ok). Number and title each section so that it is clear there
are 7 distinct pages. Double spacing is allowed. These notes must
be in your own words, and they must demonstrate your mastery and
understanding of the material. Your submission must be as an attachment
in Word, pdf, or rtf format.

sources must come from research you have conducted beyond the class
material. Use the databases in the Pierce College online library or
other scholarly sources. Google, Yahoo, Wikipedia etc. are not scholarly
sources

Directions: You must select and respond to each of
the questions from the list below. You must respond to the actual
question and, if appropriate, elaborate beyond the initial question.
Your initial postings must each be at least 200 words long and
demonstrate an understanding of the issues. Your
job is to start the discussion with insight and to further it with
thoughtful follow up responses.

Summary of requirements:

(1) A 200-word initial post to each question below.

1. How significant of an impact do the teachings of Plato, Aristotle,
and Socrates have on our lives today? Give specific examples. Who are
the major philosophers of current day? How are their teachings/thoughts
the same or different from these most significant philosophers of
ancient Greece? Is philosophy more or less influential today than it was
in the day of the great Greek philosophers.

2. Compare the role of the Greek city-state to forms of government we
see in America and around the world today. Is there anything close to
the Greek city-state in today’s world? Is the type of Greek pride
demonstrated in the city-state found still today?
