Week 7 DQ 2 – response to fellow classmate Laketia Bradley

External validity is the degree of the causal inferences in academic research that is usually rooted in trials as experimental validity. In other words, external validity is the probability of application of the results of an experiment or study can apply to other situations, studies, and people. In mathematics, for instance, external validity estimates if the results of the study can apply to general populations and creating statistical methods that lead to valid generalizations. Therefore, even though that may be confused as one and therefore be used interchangeably in some studies, they do not mean the same thing. The increasing external validity causes increases in the generalizability of the findings. The distinction between external validity and generalizability is important because it enables researchers to know which elements of validity are necessary to make the studies applicable across different populations. As a result, even in studies that have internal validity, generalization can still be achieved (Ferguson, 2004). Please provide a 150-200 word response to the above question and please use at least 1 reference. Also please cite reference in APA 6th edition format and please provide doi or www info for reference if applicable.
