READ and FOLLOW the directions and guidelines for this paper.

  • 750 words. An extra point is given for submitting exactly 750 words. Points are deducted for writing a paper that is too short or too long. This assignment is for 750 words.
  • Word count includes title and student’s name (once), and the body of the paper.
  • Word count does not include the reference page, instructor’s name, course number, page number, etc.
  • The paper is to include cited references from two academic journals. An academic journal is a peer reviewed periodical related to a particular academic discipline. Academic journals are not publications such as newspapers, magazines, books, organizational or governmental white papers, or unpublished conference presentations. If you are still unclear, do an Internet search on peer reviewed academic journals or talk to the instructor.
  • References are checked. If the instructor finds no evidence of how a cited article was actually used in the paper, the student will be requested to show how the article cited was included. If an article other than the two required cited academic journal articles are listed on the reference page is not cited within the paper, points will be deducted. Remember, the paper will not be graded if the two required academic article are listed on the reference page but not properly cited within the paper.
  • Additional sources can be used for additional points. Wikipedia, our textbook, or general dictionaries are not to be included as references and will not be accepted for points.
  • A separate reference page is to be included with references in the proper format (APA Edition 6). The reference page is not included in the word count.
  • Use of information from an outside source, it is to be cited (Author[s], year). If you use a direct quote it is cited with page number as shown here: (Author[s], year, pg. 00).
  • Direct quotes may not exceed 20% of the paper. This is your work not a collection of quotes from others. Do not depend upon quotes. This is a short paper. Note the point reduction for using more than 10% direct quotes. Use your own words.
  • Present paper double spaced, using 12 point Times New Roman on all elements of the paper, and with pages numbered at the bottom using the format “Name – 1”. See grading matrix for other requirements.
  • The paper is to be in your own words and your own work. Plagiarism will not be accepted.

What NOT to do or include .

  • Do not include the name of the class, time and place of the class, instructor’s name, and other unnecessary information. These will not be included in the word count.
  • Do not include footnotes. These will not be included in the word count.
  • Do not include a title page. This will not be included in the word count.
  • Do not wait until the last minute. Life happens, things go wrong, but the deadline stands. This course is about the right product being at the right place at the right time.
