I’m working on a management discussion question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

Leaders need to step back as leaders and lead from the balcony, not just on the floor where the dancing takes place. This allows us to see the bigger picture. Knowing what is going on from a higher view will enable us to look at alternatives and employ critical thinking to recognize conflict, challenges, and other significant issues. Then we can provide proactive leadership instead of reactive. As leaders, we paint with a bigger brush?the decision we make impact more people. Conflict has to be acknowledged to be resolved. If you work as a team leader, you will have to deal with conflict at some point. Conflicts can be brutal, devastating, and a time and energy-consuming problem for any leader and organization. Although conflicts are inevitable, they can be managed. But why does conflict happen, and what can we do about them?
